video game console, multiplayer gameThere are not too many places where 24/7 365 a person can compete. One of those places is at a casino in the poker room. Another is with online multiplayer games. In the spirit of not coming home with empty pockets, I stick to the video game console when I get an itch to win something at 2 in the morning. Unlike a pickup game of basketball, online multiplayer games will at any hour of the day pair you up with a person or group of people to compete against. It is in my nature to compete. I want to win but even after a loss the thrill of trying to come out on top is impossible to resist.

Last night a group of five friends linked up in a game party and took on team after team in a favorite first person shooter. Without being facetious, we won 13 games in a row, normally with one extra random person on our side. My stomach was hungry and what I planned to be 40 minutes on the video game console turned into 2 hours. We finally lost but it was the longest gaming streak I’ve ever been on.
