video game console, multiplayer gameNot too long ago the idea of chatting it up with someone across the country or even across the world seemed like a pricey venture. With a world now driven by IP addresses, much of this cost has gone the way of the dinosaur. Just last night I signed onto my favorite multiplayer game. Surprisingly a friend who I had not seen playing his video game console online for ages was popping up. Before getting into a match, I sent him a private chat message.

A couple minutes past and right before I thought he wasn’t there, “what up man” came through my headset. We caught up. He told me how cold New York had been and then we got into the multiplayer games. It was great to see how he was doing and then show him who the gaming king is. Back in college, we spent many nights on the video game console. He always was the worst to lose too. The smug grin, little shuffle he did after popping off the couch. But on this night, he was rusty and I came away the victor.
