Video game consoles are continually updating. Since Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, etc only release a new video game console every few years, online updates help to fix bugs and increase the playability of a system. Wii Nintendo consoles saw one of those updates last week. Called the System Menu 4.0 update, explored in the video above, it brings Wii gamers a much needed storage space upgrade.

Nintendo consoles have never been known for large hard drives and this was especially true with the Wii. Nintendo finally decided to stop listening to all the storage complaints and actually do something. It only took them 2.5 years of complaining but the problem has been solved as of March 25, 2009.

After the download is complete, a new “SD Card Menu” will appear on the load screen. Any info saved on the SD cards can now be accessed quickly and painlessly unless you don’t have enough free blocks. In that case, the 4.0 upgrade took the liberty of allowing an “AutoManage” feature to free up the needed space. It works by moving memory from internal storage onto the SD card. Wii Nintendo consoles can now save more info, who could complain?
