Multiplayer games are what really brought video games to the forefront. Remember Atari’s Pong? Today, there are three major video game consoles each with 100s of games. Within that huge library of titles, there are the classic or retro multiplayer games that no matter how simple are addictive time after time. I decided to write about my top three arcade style multiplayer games available on the Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3.
1. Wii’s Mario Kart 64: Available to download on Wii systems, this nostalgic classic brings back a lot of memories ranging from the secret wall jump in Wario Stadium to the balloon battles. For many who have played the more recent Mario Karts this one is out dated but I still love it.
2. Xbox’s Super Puzzle Fighter II: Available to download on Xbox Live, this classic pits two players against each other in a Tetris type duel with a winner crowned after an opponent is buried in blocks. I love the anime characters, bright colors and addictively simple concept.
3. PS3’s Lemmings: Who can forget the innocent but suicidal animals who will march their way right off a cliff if you let them? They dig, climb, swing and blow their way up into all gamers’ hearts.
