Multiplayer Games that Changed Lives |

The title may seem over exaggerated but I’m serious. There have been and will be multiplayer games that change lives. You don’t believe me. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane. Who could forget the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series on the Super Nintendo video game console or the later Mario Kart? Not to mention the shooting multiplayer games inspired by 007: Golden Eye.
I am sure many kids became unlikely friends with other Super Nintendo video game console addicts for nothing else but the love of gaming. Gaming became a universal way to hang out. People of all types were brought together through multiplayer games. Multiplayer games call for communication, competition and achievement, which are all factors to creating a bond between people.
This idea was expanded when multiplayer games went online. We lost face-to-face connection but gained access to people across the globe. I think the first non-PC online multiplayer games came from Microsoft’s original Halo, which with some effort could be hardwired to a web connection and played with others. The online Halo movement was something created by gamers not Microsoft, leading to Xbox Live. Call me a nerd but I can’t imagine a life without multiplayer games.
