nintendo ds lite, video game console Nintendo consoles created a major market for gaming. As the systems evolved from the original to the portable Gameboy the amount of Nintendo video game console fans exploded. And then came the original Xbox and revolutionary PS2 games like Metal Gear Solid.

At this point, I figure Nintendo felt they could not compete against the simulators, shooters and teen driven titles coming from their competition leading to the horrible children driven Nintendo Gamecube. Talk about taking three steps forward with the Nintendo 64 only to take 20 steps back with this hideous square piece of 2002 gaming technology. Gamecube sold over 20 million consoles worldwide catering to the pre-teen audience with titles like Spyro, Teen Titans and other not so memorable experiences.

What makes no sense to me was the controller. The joystick felt like it was about to snap off. Nintendo almost didn’t recover until the Nintendo DS Lite and Wii was introduced, which both reinvented how we think of controlling a game. Nice try Nintendo Gamecube but I think you’re better off left in the linen closet of bonus rooms worldwide.
