video game console, multiplayer gamesMeeting new people and having things to say can be a real job especially when the person seems light years different. I was in such a situation a weekend ago when I tagged along with a friend to his friend’s house who was having a small get together. When we got their Corey, went to talk to an old girlfriend and left me in a room of friendly rocker type guys who were playing old school Smash Brother multiplayer games on a N64. At first, I just sat and watched not really saying anything because they were locked into the multiplayer games. After a match was over one of them offered me his controller, not knowing any of their interests the conversation turned to video game console topics.

I heard one of the guys saying he worked at the video game console store Game Stop and asked him when Modern Warfare 2 is coming out. I told him that franchise was the only reasons I bought an Xbox 360. He too was a huge Call of Duty fan and gave me all sorts of insight about the upcoming release. He said to pre-order the special edition to get added experience points with online multiplayer games and some other cool merchandise. The awkward silence at first quickly disappeared with gamer talk. The girls sitting in the room probably had no idea what we were talking about but it was nice to get to know some really cool new people with the help of a common love for video game consoles.
