nintendo ds lite, video game consoleMy husband and I rent a lot of movies and we have just been to the local movie rental store to see what’s new. We had Rick, one of our grandchildren, with us. Our local movie rental store also rents video game console games. Rick asked us if he could rent a game for his Nintendo DS Lite. The game in question is called Chrysler Classic Racing and the video rental store wanted nine dollars to rent it for a period of one week.  My husband and I are not mean to our grandchildren but nor are we stupid. We refused to rent this game for Rick because we knew that we could get him it to keep forever and it wouldn’t cost that much more.
I have been home less than an hour and I have already found the Chrysler Classic Racing Nintendo DS Lite Game for eight percent less than the recommended retail price at an ecommerce site. I would rather pay a little extra to purchase Nintendo DS Lite games and own them outright than rent it for a period of one week and have to give it back. I’m glad we had the sense to say no to Rick’s request. However experiences like this make me wonder how many parents give in to their children’s demands to rent video game console games without checking at ecommerce stores to see how much they cost to purchase and own.
