When the vice president of Sony product marketing says a game “exceeded our expectations,” you better believe they mean it. It is no wonder how Kill Zone 2 put the PS3 video game console back on the map after they released the unforgettable slow motion commercial of a sniper bullet moving through a battlefield right into the face of an enemy soldier. The commercial may not have included any real game footage but the theatrics were enough to make any average video game console player take a double look. Even my roommate who never plays games thought it looked awesome.
According to Sony video game console reports, Kill Zone 2 sold over 300,000 discs in the first two days on the market and then hit and surpassed the half million mark to a cool 600,000 today. Impressive numbers on any video game console. You can bet the developers at Guerrilla Games have been popping bottles of bubbly. O and by the way, those 600,000 copies sold are only in North America. First person multiplayer games had better take notice because Killzone 2 included all the right ingredients.
